Placing dietary supplements on the market
We offer assistance to entities in the food business in the process of placing food supplements on the market, that is, obtaining a decision on the inclusion of food supplements in the monitoring program.
What are dietary supplements?
Dietary supplements are preparations produced from concentrated sources of nutrients or other substances with a nutritional or physiological effect that further enrich the usual diet. Nutrients are divided into:
- Vitamins and minerals
- Other substances – amino acids, essential fatty acids, fibers, organs and extracts of plant species, microorganisms, edible mushrooms, algae, bee products and other substances with a nutritional or physiological effect
Regulation of dietary supplements
The composition of food supplements must comply with laws and regulations relating to food and food supplements. All Croatian regulations and laws are related to European Union Regulations.
Labelling
- The product is not attributed to the properties of prevention, therapy and treatment of human diseases or refers to such properties (e.g. elimination of complaints caused by diabetes, for joint health, for lowering cholesterol, etc.)
- The product does not contain statements that suggest that a balanced and varied diet cannot provide adequate amounts of nutrients
Services offered:
- Writing the declaration and conceptual solution of labeling for food and nutritional supplements
- Signing up for the monitoring of dietary supplements through the Central Information System of the Sanitary Inspection (SISSI)
- Application for food monitoring for special nutritional needs
- Communication with the competent health institution
- Development of new nutritional supplements based on the client’s ideas and preferences (intermediary between supplier and manufacturer) – from idea to finished product
